someone with 'no kokoro' (no heart, no self): 'Inside this man, could there be nothing but hollowness? Then, I think I can see the lonely inner stare of today's man.'
Reminded me of Home Burial, by Robert Frost. The most interesting character is the mom and how she emotionally deals with the passing of Buck. This movie is so representative of the 80s middle-class white American suburban lives as well as that generations' filmmaking techniques.
some good moments of juxtaposition, e.g. its commentary on sex, labor, mass production, violence etc. But also a lot of moments seem contrived, and definitely disputable among non-fiction filmmakers. Not too different from Baraka.
